Two-factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is designed to make sure that you're the only person who can access your account. You can add an extra layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen.

CY Login profiles eligible for enabling Two-factor Authentication

The CY Login profile must:

• Be of type for Natural Person
• Be approved with an Identity either Cyprus ID or ARC.

What you will need to enable Two-factor Authentication

• Μobile phone number
• In case you want to use an authenticator app you need a smartphone and download an authenticator app of your choice like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator

Configure Two-Factor Authentication

1. Open your CY Login Account
2. From the home page click the Enable Two-factor Authentication button or from the User icon select Security
3. Follow the on-screen steps

Authentication Methods

Important: Never give your verification codes to anyone.

1. Authenticator App (recommended)

The app will generate a 6-digit code to use during login. No internet access is required.

2. SMS

A 6-digit code may be sent to a number you’ve previously provided. To verify it’s you, enter the code on the sign-in screen.

Tip: Although any form of Two-factor Authentication adds account security, verification codes sent by texts can be vulnerable to phone number-based hacks.

Backup Authentication Methods for Authenticator App

In case you lose your authenticator device you can use the following backup methods to get access to your account.

1. Recovery codes (recommended)

A set of 3 recovery codes will be generated. Each code may be used only once.

Copy them and keep them in a safe place and never give out your backup codes to anyone.

2. SMS

A 6-digit code will be sent to a number you’ve previously provided.
